Holiday Spectacular Mission

The mission of Holiday Spectacular, Inc. is to provide quality holiday entertainment for the community by the community. We endeavor to enrich the lives of the people in our community by providing original holiday based productions and by encouraging the community to audition and participate in our productions as actors, musicians, singers and dancers. To the less artistically inclined, Holiday Spectacular encourages participation in the form of backstage help, set construction and supervision of children involved in the production.

Principles of Holiday Spectacular Community

“value, include, empower”

Holiday Spectacular, Inc. offers Central Illinois one-of-a-kind local theatre. Each original script is written for and about Central Illinois.  Our cast ranges from six-year-olds participating in their first show to seasoned professional actors and singers.  Cast and volunteers are part of a purpose, not just a show. We strive to give community members a chance to come together in a safe space where they are encouraged to be their best selves, both in rehearsal and in performance.

We encourage every member of our Spec community to be open, kind, and brave and to join us in our collective pursuit of these principles:

We affirm the inherent dignity and value of every person as we strive together in an atmosphere of respect and compassion.

We encourage understanding and civility in all interactions.  We seek to produce shows that reflect the diversity of our shared community.

We endeavor to teach succeeding new generations of actors, dancers, and singers about quality theatre, empowering them to go forth with a new set of skills and an appreciation for the arts.

We pursue excellence.  Each line spoken by an actor, each sung phrase of music, each director note, each costume piece, reflects careful thought and preparation.

We champion each of our performers, including those with special needs, and meet them where they are.

We will light every face and give it a chance to shine.  There are no small parts; everyone matters.

We perform new work.  Theatre is often a work in progress and our shows are especially so.  We encourage a sense of humor, adventure, and discovery as things stay flux.

We appreciate the efforts of our funders, grantors, cast, volunteers, and families who have enabled us to touch thousands and thousands of lives.

We take pride in the 19-year-old legacy we have created while sustaining a culture that is founded on these principles of unity and respect.
